Three Mile Island Accident

On March 28th 1979, the nuclear reactor at Three Mile Island (in Pennsylvania, USA) suffered a partial core meltdown. Most of the nuclear material was contained. No person was injured or killed by the meltdown. The projected number of deaths from radiation poisoning is approximately 1.
